Semi-autonomous electrical generation which links to the mains to feed capacity back to the local mains electrical grid. Grid-tie system is installed to feed all the electricity it generates to the grid affectively making this system a small electricity generating facility. These systems are available for commercial, multi-unit residential, industrial, and institutional building rooftops that have good solar exposure.

Off-Grid Power

For buildings, homes, cottages that are located far from the electrical grid. Sometimes the perfect site for a cottage, home or building is located far from the electrical grid and will cost the purchaser a small fortune to grid connect. This is the typical situation that results in off-grid living. The money needed to have solar panels installed in leui of paying the local energy provider to connect a property to the grid is usually price competitive. Remember, the first time cost to connect to the grid is just to have access to then pay for electrical service. An off-grid solar system includes photovoltaic modules, battery bank, system meter, battery voltage regulator, battery fuse and disconnect switch, inverter/battery charger, backup generator. This differs from a grid-tie system where no batteries need to be charged or maintained. Depending on the location and landscape, an off-grid system can rely on several sources of energy, including wind and/or micro hydro.
